Advanced Care: Prenatal Diagnostics & Screening

Advanced Imaging & Diagnostic Care for Pregnancy in Gopanpally

The middle stage of pregnancy is dedicated to tracking your baby’s growth and development. At Sri Sai Women & Children’s Clinic, we utilize advanced, non-invasive imaging techniques to monitor your baby’s health with exceptional precision. Our goal is to provide deep insights, screen for potential concerns, and offer you peace of mind throughout your pregnancy.

Prenatal Diagnostics and Screening

1. NT Scan (Nuchal Translucency) and Chromosomal Screening

The NT scan is one of the first detailed screenings performed, typically between 11 and 13 weeks of pregnancy. It is a vital tool for assessing the risk of chromosomal abnormalities, such as Down syndrome.

What is the NT Scan?

This ultrasound measures the small fluid collection (nuchal translucency) at the back of the baby’s neck. When combined with a maternal blood test (Dual Marker), it provides a powerful and non-invasive risk assessment.

Key Value: Non-invasive risk stratification for major chromosomal conditions.

2. Anomaly Scan (Level II Ultrasound)

Often considered the most detailed scan of the entire pregnancy, the Anomaly Scan (or Level II Ultrasound) is usually performed between 18–22 weeks. This detailed anatomical survey ensures all your baby’s major organs and structures are developing correctly.

What We Look For:
  • Detailed examination of the baby’s heart, brain, spine, kidneys, limbs, and facial features.
  • Evaluation of the placenta’s position and function.
  • Assessment of the amount of amniotic fluid.
  • Detection of congenital anomalies early for timely intervention and management.

3. Growth Scans: Monitoring Fetal Well-being

Growth scans are usually performed in the third trimester to ensure that the baby is growing at the expected rate and thriving inside the womb.

Purpose of Growth Scans:
  • Size Assessment: Measuring the baby’s weight and size to ensure appropriate growth trajectory.
  • Amniotic Fluid Check: Monitoring the surrounding fluid to evaluate uterine environment.
  • Placenta Evaluation: Ensuring optimal placenta function for nutrient and oxygen delivery.

4. Doppler Scans: Assessing Blood Flow and Fetal Health

A Doppler scan is a specialized ultrasound that measures the flow of blood through the placenta, umbilical cord, and key blood vessels in the baby’s body.

When is it used? Doppler studies are crucial in pregnancies that may be complicated by fetal growth restriction or high blood pressure (preeclampsia). It provides critical insights into how well the baby is receiving oxygen and nutrients, helping guide timely medical management decisions.

5. Cervical Length Measurement (Risk of Preterm Labour)

For women with a history of preterm birth or risk factors, cervical length measurement is an essential diagnostic tool.

This non-invasive transvaginal ultrasound helps assess the risk of early labor. If a short cervix is detected, our Gynaecologist can implement preventive measures to help prolong pregnancy and ensure better outcomes for both mother and baby.
